Seeing movies again, decades later, Part I
We watched the Israeli film “Sallah Shabati’, starring Chaim Topol. It’s a charming comedy about a family of Yemenite Jews who came to Israel in “Operation Magic Carpet” in the late ’40s. I saw it in the movies in 1964 with my dad. It was a surprise minor international hit when it came out. It was funny then and it is funny now.
It would make good Rosh Hashanah viewing for the Chosen People in the crowd, or for anyone.
